Antonio Conte’s departure from Tottenham marks a sad record for the Premier League.  Named Italian coach in the Premier League sacked coach list.

Conte was sacked, Premier League has a new record.

Antonio Conte and 10 other coaches were fired while the Premier League season was still underway.
Tottenham and Antonio Conte have reached an agreement to terminate the contract ahead of time. The rift in the relationship between the Italian coach and chairman Daniel Levy, as well as the players, could not be repaired.

While Tottenham fans feel pleased and looking forward to a new phase, the Premier League couldn’t sadder because of this event record. Conte became the 11th coach in the top division of the Old Blighty to lose his job this season.

Tottenham have parted company with Antonio Conte after the Italian slammed his players as “selfish” after their 3-3 draw with Southampton.

In the history of the English Premier League, there has never been a season where so many “captains” have been pushed off the ship.

August 2022

Wolves sacked Bruno Lage earlier this month before Steven Gerrard found himself in a similar situation at Aston Villa.

November 2022

Difficulties at Southampton saw Ralph Hasenhuttl sacked and replaced with Nathan Jones.

January 2023

Fear of relegation at Everton cost Frank Lampard his role at Goodison Park.

February 2023

Leeds ends an unhappy period for Jesse Marsch. A week later, Jones became Southampton’s second victim of the season after only three months in charge.

March 2023

Crystal Palace sacked Patrick Vieira after 12 games without a win before Conte’s increasingly fractured relationship with Spurs came to an end.

Layoff season

The 11 coaches were sacked this season have broken the record when 10 coaches was terminanted contract, which was set three times in the Premier League era.

2013-2014 was the first season that the number of coaches losing their jobs reached double number. Fulham contributed 2 of them, with 2 names respectively Martin Jol and Rene Meulensteen. Including the pre-season changes, a total of 13 coaches lost their jobs that season.

By the 2017-2018 season, the total number of coaches leaving the chair even reached 15, of which 10 were fired during the season. Clubs Southampton (Claude Puel and Mauricio Pellegrino), and West Brom (Tony Pulis and Alan Pardew) changed coaches twice.

West Ham, Everton, Stoke, and Swansea all made second substitutions at the end of the season, while Arsene Wenger stepped down after a long spell at Arsenal.

2021-2022 is the season remaining to see 10 coaches sacked on the journey, including Xisco Munoz and Claudio Ranieri at Watford.

The 11th man lost his job at the end of the season, when Manchester United’s interim manager, Ralf Rangnick – appointed in November to succeed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, left Old Trafford.

The Premier League saw three managers sacked three times during the 1994-1995 season – when there were still 22 clubs – 2004-2005 and 2008-2009.
